Research Methodology

It was found that the majority of previous studies  lack taking a comprehensive approach that combines qualitative and quantitative  methods in assessing neighborhood social  well-being. The aim of the study is to  investigate the factors that affect well being in the neighborhood context in Doha and attempt neighborhood -scape  methodology that enable  planners, architects and other decision  makers to translate the perceptual qualities of neighborhoods,  which are subjective in nature, to a reliable  quantified  value. The research approach focuses upon the analysis and  evaluation of the urban physical characteristics and form performance. The  Integrated Modification Methodology (IMM) has been applied for this purpose.  The residents well-being is analyzed with the help of a survey in terms of  life satisfaction and happiness. The research also maintains the objective to  analyze the association between the QOL multi-layer inhabitant’s  well-being and physical features characteristics. Through this analysis it  would be possible to extract the perceptions of the urban citizens regarding  urban qualities over the entire neighborhood scale. With the help of the  well-being features, it would be possible to assess the performance of the  neighborhood and behavior of the residents that can encourage neighborhood retrofit. Finally, survey would be conducted where a  sample of participants would be present within each of the chosen neighborhoods. this survey will be analyzed statistical to prove that well-being is mostly achieved when all the  urban design qualities are addressed.
